About The Club

Formally established in 1888 (though there is some evidence of informal matches and meetings before that), the Colchester Chess Club currently has members ranging from purely social players to those wishing to play league matches.

We meet every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at the Colchester Conservative Club to enjoy chess in a competitive but friendly atmosphere. Our aims are to promote chess in the community and to play competitively in the local leagues.

We enter teams of varying strength in the North Essex Leagues, in addition the club runs a number of internal competitions and fun nights open to all members. If you have any questions regarding our club and its activities, then please feel free to contact Clive Bellinger (Club Secretary) on 01206 729706.
